Meet the team
Danielle Rodin
Danielle is a radiation oncology resident at the University of Toronto and an MPH student at the Harvard School of Public Health. While in residency, she has been working with the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) on the Global Task Force on Radiotherapy for Cancer Control to develop an investment framework for radiotherapy. Danielle has previously been involved in global health projects at the McGill Institute for Health and Social Policy, the World Health Organization, as well as in clinical programs in Malawi and Cambodia.
Shekinah Elmore
Shekinah is a fourth year at Harvard Medical School applying for residencies in radiation oncology. She has been involved in global cancer with Partners in Health and the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center since 2010, most recently as a Fulbright Scholar at the Butaro Cancer Center of Excellence in northern Rwanda. Prior to medical school, she worked on social support initiatives for patients with HIV in Rwanda and Mozambique, and has extensive work experience in health systems across East Africa.
Roshan Sethi
Roshan is a recent graduate of Harvard Medical School, matching into the Harvard Radiation Oncology Residency Program. He worked in Rwanda as a research assistant at the Butaro Cancer Center of Excellence, a Ministry of Health facility supported by Partners in Health and the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center from February to April 2014. He was previously a Doris Duke Clinical Research fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital in pediatric radiation oncology. While in college, he worked for Unite for Sight, a global health organization focused on cataracts and other preventable causes of blindness.
Onyi Balogun
After graduating from Harvard University, Onyi spent a year in Nigeria working with cancer patients. It was during that time that she realized that there was a significant global need to improve the availability and quality of healthcare services, including radiation therapy. Since then, she has engaged in efforts to improve cancer care internationally and she is excited to join GlobalRT! She is currently a Radiation Oncology resident at the University of Chicago.
Mei Ling Yap
Mei is a staff radiation oncologist at Liverpool and Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centres in Sydney, Australia. Mei was previously a fellow at the University of Toronto and is now conducting research at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research on the optimal utilization of radiotherapy in low- and middle- income countries. Mei is also a member of the Global Task Force on Radiotherapy for Cancer Control.
Daniel Seible
Dan recently graduated from Harvard Medical School and is beginning residency training in radiation oncology at UC San Diego. He previously worked as a research associate at Moores Cancer Center in San Diego, using nanotechnology for cancer vaccine development. He has a background in service on global health initiatives in both Bolivia and Mexico.
Antonin Levy
Antonin is an assistant professor in Radiation Oncology at Gustave Roussy in Paris, France. He is also a scientist at Inserm Unit 1030, Molecular Radiobiology Laboratory, in Villejuif, France. His main interests include access to radiotherapy and clinical development combining irradiation and immunomodulation.
Martin-Immanuel Bittner
Martin is a radiation oncology resident at the University Medical Center in Freiburg, Germany. During his medical training, he completed clinical and research placements in several European countries, Australia, Japan, and with the World Health Organization. Martin served as an ambassador for the Equal Opportunities Programme of the German National Academic Foundation and was active in promoting a school-based smoking prevention program. Martin has earned a Rhodes Scholarship and is now pursuing a DPhil at the Department of Oncology in Oxford.
